This picture was taken in December 2007 when Grandad had been told it was likely his illness was MND.

This website will give you information about the arctic challenge Amanda Francis, Katie Gibbons and Richard Francis took part in during February 2009 with the Motor Neurone Disease Association. 

This challenge took place as David Simpson (Amanda, Emma, Katie and Richard's Grandad) had been diagnosed with MND and this was a practical way of actually doing something that might help other suffers in the future. REST IN PEACE GRANDAD, WE LOVE YOU, MISS YOU SO MUCH AND WE ARE SO PROUD TO BE YOUR GRANDCHILDREN DAVID JAMES SIMPSON DIED ON 15TH APRIL 2009 WITH HIS WIFE AND 2 CHILDREN BY HIS SIDE X.  

In order to take part in the challenge we raised a minimum of �12,000 between us. The whole family took on the challenge of raising this money specifically Hazel and John Francis (David's daughter) and Emma Tyrer (our sister)
